The Gruene Historic District in New Braunfels is on the National Register of Historic Places, and many of the buildings in the district have been awarded a Texas medallion from the Texas Historical Commission.  The district has also been recognized by the Texas travel industry as a premiere attraction for visitors.

The Gruene Historic District features a winery, Gruene Hall (the oldest dance hall in Texas), a variety of specialty shops, local artisans and art galleries, a number of dining options, and a few great lodging options.  Area access to both the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers also provides some of the best opportunity for water recreation in the hill country.  Equipment purchase and rentals are available from several area river outfitters.

Make sure to put the Gruene Historic District on your list of things to do in the Texas Hill Country!
